Miata is always the answer?
What do you do when you quit your job? Obviously spend a week plus in a heat wave in Davis,CA tearing apart not 1, but 2 Miatas! Started off helping the boyfriend finish his friend’s Miata that they did a clutch job in and then we found needed a drive shaft and engine mounts.
Now we are tearing apart my partner’s Miata and doing the same basic job, but with very nice upgraded parts instead of the cheap/factory parts we used on the friend’s because that was a budget job.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Let me tell you right now, Miata may be a good answer, but if the question is, “what car is designed in such a way it is easy to work on?” The Miata is fucking not the answer. It is small, cramped, and everything having to do with CA emissions is in the fucking way. And no of course those can’t be removed.... Thanks CARB *eye roll*
Obligatory Corvette photo and my BF dad’s manual Mazda 3. The Corvette waits for work to be done because the place I bought the suspension parts from are terrible and I will NEVER do business with them again and am returning the parts I ordered from them and getting my shocks elsewhere.

I admire Subaru for ease of working on in most things and their common part use. There are some things you can really swear at (valve lash adjustments on solid lifters), but most things are really nice compared to a VAG car.

I don’t know, I’ve found the Miata lovely to work on.
Im not shy about ripping stuff off or not reinstalling non-essential parts tho...

Let me know when you can pick up the tail light by the way. I’ll remove it as soon as you wanna get it. And any other parts, I’m sure I have stuff just logistics of getting it to you lol. I know my driveshaft is pretty new, I replaced that like 30k ago with a new part. But looks like you already fought through that one. And yeah I agree, it's not incredibly easy to work on compared to other cars with more space. But it's at least mostly normal tools required, nothing crazy to reach into anywhere usually. I would rather work on the Miata than my Subaru but that's probably just due to familiarity and simplicity of systems.

Yeah I should be all moved down sometime next week so I could probably pop up and grab that Sometime after that. Yeah we went to a pick- n- pull for the budget job drive shaft. Actually ended up with a decent aftermarket one off the 1 Miata there. Not really in need of anything other than that taillight that I am aware of.
Yeah it isn’t that it is difficult, it is more like oddly placed and there are a few places things are just extra tight especially being a NB2. It is not hard but it doesn’t hep it was 106 out today.

If it makes you feel any better I was kind of cold at work when I had to walk someplace in the morning and it was 65 degrees . Only a high of about 70 too due to the Marine layer lol.

“what car is designed in such a way it is easy to work on?”
That is where the foxbody shines. Everything is pretty much right at hand. I live in a world free from CARB so I can hack out all the useless stuff robbing me of power. I do not envy those under its thumb.

If it makes you feel better, it’s been above 110 degrees for the last week and a half and I’ve been teaching two weight training and conditioning classes every day.

I had to repair my Integra in my apartment parking lot during a Davis summer several years ago . That was not an experience I’d wish on anyone.

Yeah that’s just toasty. I don’t mind the ~90 at home since it's dry , assuming I don’t have to run around or do much in it. But anything over 100 just feels like an oven. Temps in the 80s, I don't even need AC and surprisingly it's been cooler like that this summer.

It alright for a day or two. But after a few months of it and no rain to cool the ground off, it feels like the earth is dying.
